How to Audition

Floodline Players auditions are open to everyone, and no previous theatre experience is required! Whether you’re a seasoned performer or stepping onstage for the very first time, we’d love to have you join us.

If you have a headshot or résumé, you’re welcome to bring it with you or submit it ahead of time, but neither is required to audition.

Auditions for Floodline Players’ plays are held in person and are open to everyone. No prepared monologue or audition piece is required unless otherwise noted for a specific production.

What to Expect

  • When you arrive, you’ll complete or update an audition form with your contact information, experience, and availability.

  • Auditionees will be divided into groups and asked to read selected scenes or excerpts from the script.

  • You’ll have time to look over the material before being called to read.

  • If there is a particular role you’re interested in and you haven’t had the opportunity to read for it, just let us know!We want everyone to have the chance to show us what they can bring to a character.

  • Play auditions typically take place over two evenings, usually Sunday and Monday. Those who audition Sunday are welcome to return Monday if they would like another opportunity to read.

  • We typically do not hold formal callbacks for plays.

  • After the final night of auditions, casting decisions will be made. Auditionees will be notified by email, and the final cast list will be announced on Floodline Players’ social media platforms.

Play Auditions

Auditions for Floodline Players’ musicals are either held virtually or in person and are open to everyone. Audition requirements may vary by production, so be sure to check for specific details.

What to Expect

  • When you arrive, you’ll complete or update an audition form with your contact information, experience, availability, and roles you may be interested in.

  • Auditionees will typically be asked to sing a prepared selection. Specific requirements, including song length and accompaniment information, will be provided in the production’s audition announcement.

  • A dance or movement audition may also be included. Choreography will be taught at the audition, so there is no need to prepare a dance in advance.

  • Depending on the production, auditionees may also be asked to read selected scenes or excerpts from the script.

  • You’ll have an opportunity to review any provided material before being called to audition.

  • If there is a particular role you’re interested in, let us know! We want everyone to have the opportunity to show us what they can bring to the character.

  • Musical auditions typically take place over two evenings, usually Sunday and Monday.

  • Callbacks may be held when additional singing, reading, dancing, or character work is needed before final casting decisions are made.

  • After auditions and callbacks are complete, auditionees will be notified by email, and the final cast list will be announced on Floodline Players’ social media platforms.
